Graphic Design: Teco Westinghouse Cycling Jersey

Ever have fun designing something? This is how I do. A friend approached me with a special request: to design a cycling jersey for his MS150 team. Their sketch:

From that, I produced this:

From those layouts, a whole bunch of jerseys like this were made:

Let me help you with your organization’s cycling jersey design. A cyclist myself, I’m well aware of the particular needs of sublimated jersey manufacturing, and the great opportunities for eye-catching design it offers. Contact me using the link above right.

Technical Illustration: Signage

Here are some examples of technical drawings I have made during my working experience in the sign industry. These drawings were designed to communicate to an experienced sign builder a design intent. In many of these applications, engineered drawings are needed for production. Keeping the illustration at this level results in a cost-effective solution.

In order to expedite drawings in a production environment, one of the best solutions I recommend, and have implemented in two different companies, is the creation of a library of typical sections. Some of these are now available commercially. The time invested in creating these common illustrations – and creating them in a fashion that would allow quick modification – proved to be another profit-enhancing measure.

Monument Sign Design, SketchUp 3D Model

Proposal for main identification sign (“CVS” used as a placeholder only). I like that even simple 3D models like this can communicate design intent so much better that conventional orthographic views…

…and yet, contrary to popular belief, 3D models offer great tools to quickly produce 2D drawings with accurate dimensions and orthographic views.

Let me show you how I can add impact to your presentations, and enhance communication with fabrication using 3D illustration. Please use the contact link to the right.

SketchUp Photomontage: Estancia

I created this cantilevered sign inspired by the silo on site of this Brazilian Restaurant in Austin, Texas. In order to better project the impact of my design, I first produced a SketchUp model. I then Photoshopped the model into an actual photo of the restaurant’s driveway:

Here’s a street view (courtesy of Google Maps), showing the finished product.
